PAUL, the German Octopus, sorry, the Octopus owned by Germany became famous for its accurate World Cup predictions and it is indeed a special creature said to have been given birth to by a woman. It predicted the victory of Spain over its owner’s country, Germany, and it said Spain would rule the world in soccer.
And it so came to pass. Its owners, who didn’t like its predictions, threatened that the Octopus would have to be roasted eventually, yet it didn’t mind.
GERMANY might be a force to reckon with in terms of technology but the Germans are naive in terms of politics. Why would anybody deploy the talents of an Octopus oracle in the direction of sports. Such an Octopus, Paul, in Nigeria would have been a money spinner. Nigerian politicians would pay anything for Paul if it would predict the results of elections. The kidnappers, who are wasting their time and lives chasing after other human beings, should wisely think of a way of kidnapping Paul and smuggling it into Nigeria for the purpose of predicting the 2011 elections.
IT might, however, affect the fortunes of Elections Tribunal judges, who, it has been alleged, are now billionaires on account of their very lucrative judicial posting.Tribune
