Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi on Thursday inaugurated a 24-member technical committee on regional integration of South-West.
The inauguration at the Governor’s Office in Ado Ekiti was attended by representatives from Ekiti, Oyo, Lagos, Osun states.
While representatives of Ogun were said to be on their way, those of Ondo were absent.
Fayemi, who said regional integration was not new to the South-West, stated that the region developed through the policy during the time of Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
He said, “It is necessary for me, at this juncture, to reaffirm our commitment to the sovereignty of the Nigerian state. This process, by our own reckoning, would strengthen the Nigerian state and deepen her growth with a healthy competitive balancing aimed at developing her capacity to deliver the greatest good to the greatest number of people across the federation.
“I challenge the creative people of the Western Nigeria to come together to move forward holistically.”
