Contrary to a rumour that surfaced online on Monday, star artiste, Tuface, is alive and in good spirits.
A web link had reported that the musician died “while on a personal vacation in Turks and Caicos early this morning from injuries sustained in a Jet-Ski accident.”
But Tuface’s publicist, Bayo Omisore, told our correspondent on a telephone interview on Monday night that the artiste was alive.
He said the artiste did not travel out of Nigeria and that he was in Abuja.
Omisore said, “Tuface performed in Port Harcourt at the weekend. I just returned to Lagos from the trip. He is in Abuja as I speak with you.”
The Tuface death rumour has been recurrent in the last two years. In April, he was rumoured to have passed on, causing many of his fans to panic.
As Omisore noted, however, it is always the same story line that the forces behind the fake story repeat.
In an interview with The PUNCH about two months ago, Tuface expressed sadness over the death rumour.
He had said, “I might be the one to perform at their funeral; some people are just mischievous. But to wish death on someone who is peaceful, has a family and does his own thing, I do not understand. All I know is that if possible, I will be the one to sing at their funeral.”
