Two passengers lost their lives while six others sustained varying degrees of injuries after an Ikorodu bound tipper with numbe plate, XU368KSF, rammed into an 18-seater Mazda passenger bus along Ikorodu-Sagamu Road on Monday.

It was learnt that the accident occurred around 6.30pm on the Ogijo end of the road.

According to Police authorities, sympathisers, who claimed the tipper was at fault, attempted to set the vehicle ablaze but were restrained by the Divisional Police Officer.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone.

He said the accident occurred opposite Ogijo Community High School.

Adejobi said investigations were ongoing as to ascertain who was really at fault but condemned the manner with which articulated vehicle drivers behave while driving.

He said, “The accident occurred around 6pm. The bus, with registration number XB229KKY, was heading to Sagamu from Ikorodu when it was hit by the tipper which was driving towards Ikorodu. Witnesses claim that the tipper driver was at fault and even attempted to set the vehicle ablaze but were prevented by the DPO.
