The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on Tuesday said that it has arrested a suspected armed robbery kingpin who specialised in car snatching in Lagos.
The head of the squad, SP Abba Kyari, who disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, said that the 36-year-old suspect was arrested at Ota, Ogun State.
Kyari said that the suspect, who was linked with over 10 recent robbery cases in Lagos, has been on the squad’s wanted list since 2010.
According to him, the suspect specialised in recruiting young men into armed robbery and car snatching and on interrogation, some suspected armed robbers have confessed that they were working for him.
Kyari said that items recovered from the suspect included a yellow painted commercial mini-bus (Damfo), a double-barrel pistol, four live cartridges and five expended cartridges.
