Restaurateur, Tunde Bolarinwa, who was killed in his Alekuwodo residence, Osogbo on Sunday, had earlier received death threats, the police have said.
The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, Mrs. Kalafite Adeyemi, told our correspondent on the telephone on Tuesday, that the suspect had been arrested and arraigned before the restaurateur was killed.
She, however, said contrary to insinuation that Tunde was killed by assassins, preliminary investigation shows that he was killed by armed robbers.
The restaurateur, who co-ran a restaurant with his wife, Yetunde, was killed around 1am in an operation that lasted 15 minutes.
Adeyemi said, “I wouldn’t pointedly say they were hired assassins; investigation is still ongoing. The suspects ransacked the bedroom, the carted away BlackBerry phones, jewelry and other items.
“I know he reported a case of threat to life. We arrested the suspect and we charged him to court. The suspect is now cooling his heels at Ilesa prison with the case still ongoing in court.”
Adeyemi urged residents of state to be proactive to security challenges, saying all hands must be on the deck to check crime in the state.
She said the police would unmask those behind the crime and pleaded with members of the public to offer information to the police on criminal activities.
