Man Suing Doctor for Amputating Penis Without Permission

KTLA News 11:53 a.m. PDT, August 18, 2011

LOUISVILLE, Ky (KTLA) -- A man is suing his doctors for amputating his penis without his consent.

Philip Seaton says he went into the hospital to have a circumcision in 2007 after doctors found cancer on his sex organs.

But when he woke up hours later, his penis was gone.

The lawsuit states doctors received consent to perform a circumcision and only a circumcision, and that Seaton never agreed to having his penis being removed.

An attorney for Dr. John Patterson says the doctor had to remove Seaton's penis after discovering cancer during the surgery.

Defense attorney Clay Robinson maintains the doctor "had no reasonable option" other than removing the cancer - and the penis.

But the lawsuit contends that it was a non-emergency situation - and Seaton should have been given the opportunity to consider other options.

Seaton and his wife Deborah are seeking unspecified damages from Patterson for mental anquish, pain, and "loss of service, love and affection."

The couple has already reached an undisclosed settlement with Jewish Hospital, where the surgery was performed.

Why on earth would a doctor do this? He said he wanted a circumcision and they removed his second largest organ in his body?... WTF!

His penis may be too tiny
