A 17-year-old maid in Murambinda who was sacked on the spot before being offered $5 as salary for arriving late committed suicide, police have reported.
Tracy Ncube was employed by Euphrasia Chingo, a teacher at Murambinda Secondary School.
On the fatal day last week, Ncube is said to have returned to her work place very late from her boyfriend's place.
That did not go down well with her master who fired her on the spot.
"Ncube packed her bags and informed her neighbour only identified as Bernard that she was going to charge her cellphone at another neighbours house leaving behind her belongings," said Manicaland police spokesperson, Muzondiwa Clean.
Clean said Ncube went to the bushy area and took an unknown poisonous drink and returned to tell Bernard what she had done. She was rushed to Murambinda hospital where she died on admission.
